Back from Chicago

We just got back from our trip to Chicago. We had such a great time with my family. I have lots of pictures to sort through, but these are some of my favorites. Thanks for hosting us, Grandma and Papa!
Grant and his best buddy, Papa. Now that we're home, Grant is constantly pretending to talk on the phone. If you ask who he's talking to, it's always Papa.

...swinging at the park with Grandma. She's so much fun!

Grandma made popcorn for a snack. How did she know??

Making Cupcakes

Grant and I made cupcakes yesterday. It was so much fun! He helped me put everything in the bowl, mix it up, put the papers in the cupcake tin, and most importantly...he helped lick the spoon at the end. That was his favorite part. He couldn't wait for the cupcakes to come out of the oven. He decided to sit by the oven and watch.

There's nothing quite as exciting as watching cupcakes bake.

"Art"

I went out the other day and purchased a variety of art supplies. We had a little family art night--it was lots of fun!
Grant sorted out all of the paintbrushes by type. I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but they were all in their proper group.

He had so much fun playing with the brushes. I really didn't need any paints.

We cut out lots of shapes and glued them together. Grant wanted to pretend his was a mask.

Bath Letters

These spongy letters were supposed to be part of the art supplies I bought, but my mom suggested letting Grant play with them in the tub. They were a big hit. Two of his favorite things combined--letters and the bathtub.

He liked to set them up on the edge of the tub. Here he's sounding out the "R."

Box Head

Nate brought Grant downstairs the other evening with a new hat...

...and missing his hands. What happened up there?

Bag Boy

Grant was very quiet this morning so I peeked in the kitchen. This is what I found:

He mimics everything I do these days, apparently including carrying a purse or two.

Random

This is what happens every time I open the fridge...Grant climbs in. Most of the time he sits down just inside the door and makes a "sssssss" sound (a sizzling sound like it's hot).

I asked Grant to get his shoes and these are the ones he chose. Just like his mom...flip flops all the way. I tried to tell him that it's better WITHOUT the white socks, but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

Another Rainy Day

Today was another perfect day to stay inside. I had a lot of work to do, so I threw a blanket over the dining room table to make a "fort."

Grant saved the fort from the fire-breathing dragon.

After he was done in the fort, he played with some more random things i found in the kitchen. He really didn't know what that jar opener was supposed to do, but it was pretty interesting.

What a good boy! He sat at the table for close to an hour, playing and looking through his books while I worked hard in the kitchen.

Cold Day at the Park

We all went to the park this weekend. It was a lot of fun, but REALLY COLD.
Grant and me peeking out at Nate. Grant fit in the tube a little better than I did.

I see you!

All ready to slide

Grant was shaking from the cold so we put on a third layer and Nate tucked his own jacket around him. That seemed to do the trick.

This was our last stop. Grant was pink all over from the cold and his hands were like ice. He still cried when we left.

Rainy Day Fun

It was too cold and rainy to go out today, so I rummaged through the kitchen cabinets and pulled out some random things for Grant to play with.

The strainer is a big hit. Somehow it always turns into a face guard.

Ta da!

Frog or Prince?

Pirate Legos

We decided to do a pirate theme for Grant's big boy room. This weekend at Downtown Disney we got a pirate ship and a little island at the Lego store.

The boys had a great time putting it all together.

Grant was in charge of the alligator.

The thunder storm is still pretty disturbing, but there aren't any real tears.

Fun Day

Jill and the kids came over today. All the kids wanted a picture with Grant. He constantly has his fingers in his mouth. I can't wait for these molars to come in!

Here's the whole crew on the way to get donuts. Auntie Jill is so much fun! She even remembered to bring a special truck book for Grant to look at in the car.

Grant got his first taste of donut. He sat in his own chair like all the big kids and thoroughly enjoyed this new discovery. He kept saying, "More...more."

What a fun day! Thanks for coming to visit!

Sand Wagon

I got Grant a little wagon filled with sandbox toys today for $5.00. He's spent the whole day playing with it. As soon as Dad got home, it became a fun ride.

...the landing was a little rough.

I Swear, We're Innocent!

The beanbag works much better now that we got rid of about half of the filling.
