Box Boy

I got a plastic strorage container for some Christmas decorations. Grant immediately staked his claim on it, making it one of his favorite toys of the season.

Thanksgiving

Fortunately, we were starting to feel better by Thanksgiving Day. We had a pretty low-key day at home.

Happy Birthday, Grant!

We were still pretty sick on Grant's birthday, so we didn't get to really celebrate.
Here's Grant checking out his first set of wheels from Uncle Ed, Auntie Jill, Jared, Kegan, and Timmy.

...just standing around with his trusty comb. Grant's favorite toys tend to be combs, spoons, cups...basically anything that isn't really a toy.

Playing with Dad

What's with boys and their screens?

Nate can get Grant to laugh more than anyone else can.

Grant loves the rough play the best. The crazier it gets, the better. Plus, things are always more interesting upside-down.

Spending Time with Grandma

Grant was curious to see the pictures that Grandma had on her camera.

Sunday Fun

Grant's getting in a little drumming time before church.

Happy Halloween!

Ok, I couldn't resist. I thought the penguin outfit was cute but Grant HATED it.
He wasn't sure about his pumpkin, either.

Wow--look at that drool!

We couldn't get him to smile at all--this is the closest we could get.

Something about the outfit made him want to sit down. He wouldn't stand up for us. Oh, well! At least Nate and I had a good time.

Fun Friday

We got to visit Auntie Jill, Jared, Kegan, and Timmy on Friday.
Timmy still loves to give Grant kisses. Here he's pushed him down by his head and planted a big wet one on his forehead. Grant thinks it's great that his cousins give him so much attention.

Wow--they have great toys here!

Tim-Tims on the swing set.

Grant liked watching all the big kids play.

A bunch of monkeys.

Nice necklace, Auntie Jill!

Sideways

Today Grant decided that his show looked more interesting if viewed sideways. He watched it quite a while that way. At one point he tried leaning the other direction, but it wasn't nearly as good that way so he switched back.

Emma the Invalid

Emma has a small injury on her right arm, so the vet said she should wear a head cone fo 5 days to make sure it healed. We tried it the first day, but she was totally lethargic...it was sad. Nate sent me out to the pet store to find something else. I found this Chihuahua t-shirt. We cut off one of the sleeves and sewed it to the other arm so her whole leg would be covered. It worked great--but she did look a little funny.
Somehow wearing the shirt made her act like an invalid. She held her arm kinda funny and played the part really well.

Black-eyed Billy

Grant got his first black eye. He was crawling around and fell just right. It got pretty dark for a while and I got a few strange looks from people, but it's a lot better now. Nate calls him Black-eyed Billy.

So Serious

New Talents

We're working on getting Grant to hold his own bottle. He loves the idea, but only gets a few swallows in before he starts to play.

Whenever Nate is sitting at his computer, Grant is standing right next to his chair, trying to see what he's doing. Nate let him sit in his chair and he was so pleased.

Grant was so excited to hit the keys like Dad does.

Play Time

My mom encouraged me to get down on Grant's level to see things from his perspective. So I crawled under the table--it actually was a lot more interesting under there than I would have thought. Grant immediately came over to see what was going on. He wasn't too sure about the idea of me under the table.

Special Delivery

Grant got a special box in the mail today from Nate's mom and grandma. He had a great time playing with his new things. (Notice he doesn't let go of his favorite toy--the spoon--no matter what.)

As with all new things, he had to perform the bite test.

Grant loves to look through the book from Gramma Jean. We've read through it several times, with Grant as the designated page turner.

A Little Scary

Today we tried putting Grant in the big tub instead of the kitchen sink. He was very interested in the water as the tub filled up, but not so excited to get in. Well, we can try it again next week.

Oktoberfest

Me and Grant checking out the chickens

Ahhh, the life

The Gate

We went down to Babies R Us and picked up a play yard. It's pretty cool--it can be connected at both ends to form a play area or disconnected to form a long wall. It has been a great help for me while I make dinner, since I can't see all of the living room from the kitchen.

Grant was looking for a way to escape...

...until Dad decided to join him and turn it into a boys-only fort. I see how it's going to be around here.

Haircut

Grant needed another hair cut. I think we decided this was his 4th since we got him.
"Can you even out my sideburns?"

He's getting a lot less squirmy, so it's getting easier to get an even cut.

Some Time with Grandma

My mom is in town for a visit. We had a short visit, but it was a lot of fun.
Grandma with all the grandkids.

Grant still is pretty stoic around his cousins, but Kegan was able to get him to laugh.

Jill's kids put on a little circus for us. Here's Kegan doing her trick--but this time with a twist. No hands, eyes shut, and only one foot. Wow! We were told that the proper response was "Bravo!"

Here Jared is being a Bionicle.
