Visit to Chicago

I'm REALLY behind in my blogging. These are some of the pictures from my trip with Grant to Chicago in late April.

Grant had such a good time with Grandma...she's so much fun!

This is the life. Kicking back, eating breakfast with your feet up.

Grant finally started to walk about a week or so before the trip. He was still using his surroundings for extra support at times.

He decided that all of Grandma's and Papa's drawer pulls should be in the "up" position. He went around the kitchen and the office and flipped them all up.

Grant got LOTS of attention.

Grandma liked to zrbrt his belly. By the end of the trip, Grant would do a raspberry whenever he saw her.

Looking out the window on the plane.

Zonked

The weather was really crumby at the start of the trip, but up to the 70's by the end.

Grandma had some snake finger puppets, er, chew toys.

Grant decided that Papa was his best pal. He lit up whenever Papa was in the room and wanted to play with him, sit on his lap, be held by him, whatever as long as it was with Papa.

Since Grant was so excited about the ceiling fan, Grandma found a little rideable plane at Toys R Us that had a spinning propeller on the front. He loved it when she would push him around on it.

Playing with Play Dough

Here's Grant playing the piano. He was the first kid we'd seen that didn't want to bang on the keys. He only would press one key at a time, very carefully.

Having a good time with Papa in the shop next to Millie's. Mmmmmm, Millie's.

A Visit to Gramma's and Grandpa's

Gramma bought Grant a Uniqua balloon. He liked it from afar, but was a little scared of it up-close at first. He finally warmed up to it.

Grant decided to hang out in one of the dogs' beds. Buddy came over to check it out.

Grant found Buddy's monkey and thought it was a great pal until he dropped it and it squeaked. It scared him into tears...he wasn't sure about the monkey after that.

Crazy eyes

Lounge Lizard

Nate set up a little lounge area on the floor for Grant one morning and he knew exactly how to use it. Some things don't need to be taught.

Fun Times with Dad

Dad's fun...and he's a great cup holder.

Look at all those teeth!

So Sleepy

I guess he fell asleep mid-play...

4th of July

Auntie Crystie and Ella tried to lure Grant out of his box. I think he was in there for 20 mintues or so.
Grandpa and Ella

Nate and Grant, right before the pool

Ella and Grant enjoyed the pool. Buddy came out later to stir things up.
Grant is a big Gramma Jean fan.

The flag scared Grant at first, but he got over that quickly. Here's Buddy, showing us his turf.
Grant found Grandpa's cool car simulator and knew just what to do.

This was the first time for Auntie Crystie to meet Grant and for us to meet little Ella. Grant plopped right onto Auntie Crystie's lap. He has that same Exersaucer at home and I think he was a little jealous of someone else sitting in it.

Gramma Jean was a good sport and let him have a drink from her cup.

Grant was still learning how to move over things--steps were a big obstacle. He got his leg out of the pool but had no idea how to get it back in or how to get the other one out.

Gramma was a lot of fun!

Cup Vision

Grant got to bring a cup with him in the car the other day. He thought it was soooo funny to watch his video through the cup. He laughed and squealed the whole car ride. Again I was left to wonder why we ever spend money on toys.

My First Peanut Butter and Jelly

It was all about the jelly, but at least we got a sandwich down.

Spin Class?

Jared, Kegan, and Timmy were spinning around this week to entertain Grant. I didn't realize he'd picked it up.

I Was Wondering Who Used Up All My Minutes...

Phones are among Grant's favorite "toys." If he finds one, he holds it up to his ear and walks around like he's chatting, grinning from ear to ear. Cracks me up every time.

Big Shoes to Fill

Grant loves shoes. He totes his shoes everywhere around the house and digs through closets to find mine and bring them to me. He tries to carry Nate's, but they are normally too big and bulky for the little guy. Today as I was washing dishes he got very quiet and I turned to see this:

Grant was really giggling when he watched himself on this video.

Little Organizer

Grant loves to sort things. Today I peeked into the hall and saw 3 of his shoes sitting on the gate. He was busy in the kitchen trying to find another to add to the collection.

He found one more, lined it up with the others, then knocked them off one by one. It's fun to watch him and try to figure out what he's thinking.

The Stick Collector

We went to the park the other night. The playground was super packed, so decided to sit over in the grassy area. Grant was busy the whole time collecting things and exploring. He liked to hike to the top of the "hill" and run down as fast as he could. He had some spectacular face-plants, but didn't seem to mind at all.

Gotcha Day

Grant's Gotcha Day was on Friday. We celebrated with his favorite foods for dinner and ended the evening with a new car. Fortunately, he loved the new car.

Emma loves ribbon and tried to steal the balloons away from Grant.

Oops, another one got away.

New Car

Here's a little video of Grant in the new car he got for Gotcha Day. Unfortunately, you have to watch sideways since I can never remember that you can't turn the camera sideways while filming. Hopefully I'll remember that the next time...

Bathtime Fun

Tonight during a quick bath, Grant started something new. We caught the tail end of it on video. His bubble beard was much more impressive in person. After he finished eating all the bubbles, he tried to suck the water off the counter. Yuck.

A Day with Princess Katy

Katy came over this morning to play. She dressed up as a princess, which meant I was the fireman and the policeman.

We had a fabulous tea party with pretend tea and cakes.

Never let it be said that princesses can't take care of themselves. Katy saw a dangerous fire in the living room and put it out with the fire hose and hatchet.
