Little Houdini

I walked into Grant's room on Sunday to get him up and this is what I found:

His right arm and shoulder out and his left sock missing.

It's hard to wrangle his little body into those one-piece suits. I'm not sure how he was able to get out...but he was certainly proud of himself.

A Perfect Landing

Adoption Day

Friday we went to court to finalize Grant's adoption. It was a very exciting day in the Prince household.

Grant got all gussied up.

Fortunately we arrived very early. Nobody seemed to know where we were supposed to appear. We finally found the right courtroom and waited.

When we got into the courtroom, there was one other family waiting for their appearance with their 6-month-old son. Grant has recently developed a fear of crying babies so when the baby cried, Grant got really upset. We got him calmed down and he enjoyed looking around with Dad.

After it was over, we got a picture with the Honorable Shari Silver.

Meet the new Prince family! This hearing officially made him part of our family and changed his name to Grant David Prince.

Cousins

We were able to spend some time with Jill, Kegan, and Timmy on Wednesday. Then we got to go to Jared's school to pick him up.
Here they have Grant by the neck, but he doesn't mind.

Kegan took lots of time to show Grant the cool stuff at her house.

Grant's going through a little bit of a nervous stage right now. The noises from the construction at their house made him uncomfortable, but Kegan helped him get over it pretty quickly.

I don't know about you, but I feel much safer with these two around.
Kegan and Jared showed me how they go fishing in their back yard.

Grant conked out almost as soon as he got into his car seat.

Bell Hop

One of Grant's toys came in a container with a red lid. We started putting it on his head because it made him look like a bell hop. Now he thinks it's really funny to put it on our heads.

Shoes??

I finally got shoes on Grant!
Aw, I was so proud.

But unfortunately, the great shoe moment was just that--a moment. Oh, well. Eventually he'll be able to wear shoes.

Sleepy Boy

...a couple of fun pictures of Grant sleeping.

Somehow the pinkie got left out...doesn't look too comfy.

Grant loves his little tiger toy, Thomas. We frequently find him asleep with the tiger on his chest or cuddled up with him. He still looks like he has a rubber band around his wrists.

A Day with Katy

Katy came over today to play while Carter and Elizabeth were at preschool. Grant was so excited to have her over. He LOVES Katy.
She showed him all of the goodies in her backpack.

He came over to flirt with Katy while she had a snack.
Katy had her goldfish while Grant ate his broccoli. Have you ever been this happy eating broccoli? Neither have I...

A Visit from Grandpa

Nate's dad came to visit this last weekend. They had a great time hanging out together. Grant and I got to join them for dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning before heading back to the airport. Here Grant is hanging out with Grandpa while waiting for a table.

Fun Weekend

Grant can finally ride in the car for long periods without making everyone a frazzled mess--yay! For the long weekend, we went to visit Nate's new office and then to Downtown Disney.
Grant was so quiet the whole ride. I looked back and saw that he'd found his feet and was gnawing on his toes...or at least his socks.

Posing outside of Rainforest Cafe.
Grant wasn't a fan of the restaurant. When the lights dimmed and the lightning flashed, he got pretty upset. For some reason the elephants really bothered him, but the gorillas were okay.

Disneyland

Grant and I went to Disneyland with Jill and her kids. With all those kids, we didn't get too many pictures.
...me and Tim Tims waiting for the Jedi training show to begin.

What a cute little chef!

Kegan took great care of Grant as always. When we went through the dark tunnels on the train, she took his hand and told him, "It's okay, Granty, don't be scared." What a sweetie! After our dinner at the Cafe Orleans, Grant gave her lots of kisses in appreciation.

And Off He Goes!

Grant figured out how to walk behind his little push toy and boy was he pleased. We cheered him on and he laughed and walked around for a long time.

Toy Basket?

I bought some baskets to store Grant's toys in. As expected, he thought they were great fun. He spent a long time sitting and standing in the baskets, then brought over some toys to put in them. I think for Grant, the happiest place on earth would be The Container Store.

Friends

Katy came over this morning to play with Grant. They had sort of different ideas of what was fun, but they both loved the cars. When Grant went down for a nap, Katy and I got to read lots of fun stories together.

Playing with Dad

New Discovery

Grant finally noticed that you can pull the tissues out of the Kleenex box. What fun!

Fun Visit

Grandma's going to get you!

Grant loved hanging out with Timmy.

Timmy wanted to play Sorry. For some reason it was always his turn and he ended up winning.

Grant was happy to just chew on the pieces.

A Day at the Park

This was Grant's first time playing in the sand. He wasn't all that impressed. He'd play for a while then try to climb out onto the sidewalk to escape.

Katy shared her bucket and shovel.
