Grant didn't really get the concept of collecting eggs in his basket. He'd open each egg that he found, eat the treat inside, then toss the empty egg aside.

Afterwards, the went through all the eggs one more time to make sure he didn't miss anything.

Jolly Roger

I couldn't find a cute Jolly Roger for Grant's new pirate room, so I asked Nate to paint one for me.

Grant was, of course, eager to help.

It was a 3 day project since it was black on white on black. It turned out really cute. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the finished project. It'll be in the pictures of his room if we ever finish it.

Huntington Gardens

With Nate busy with classes, it had been a while since we'd gotten out to do something as a family. We decided on Huntington Gardens. Grant was really grumpy that day because we'd had a very busy week, but he came around.

Grant found a lizard. He was especially excited because Jared and Kegan had shown him lizards the day before.

Shoe Train

I love seeing what his little mind can come up with. Shoes for the train cars, and his little letter carrier turned upside down works great as a conductor's seat. I don't think I would've been that creative.

Box Fun

Grant found this box in the kitchen and knew exactly what those two holes were for. He was quietly waiting for me to find him.

He was very pleased when I did.

Baking

Everytime I make something in the kitchen, Grant wants to help. I've learned that he'll eat anything that we make together. He seems to think that whatever we make will taste good. I had him help me grind coffe the other morning, and I couldn't clean up the spilled grounds fast enough to keep him from eating them. Yuck!

The rolling was one of his favorite parts. He didn't even need cookie dough...just a rolling pin.

He got to try out one of his creations while he watched the rest in the oven. Of course, the one in his hand had to kiss the one in the oven.

My Housecleaner

Grant likes to help me clean. He frequently gets the mop out and cleans the floor. If I'm cleaning the counters, he gets his own paper towel and scrubs for me. He found a cloth and started scrubbing the shower. Wow, I hope it lasts! Somehow, I think the allure will wear off all too soon.

Real Bugs!

Grant and I went out this morning to collect some bugs in his bug jar. We found 4 ladybugs, 1 roley-poley, and 1 ant.

He puts the jar right up to his face for the best view.

He's a very kissy boy...he gives lots of love. After looking at the bugs, he had to give them their kisses...through the lid, of course.

We went to Burbank for lunch and Grant wanted to climb ALL of the stairs in the parking lot...random. Nate and Grant went to the top and I drove up to pick them up. Grant got a kick out of seeing me down in the level below. Funny how he finds the simplest things so entertaining.

Grandma and Grandpa sent Grant a Easter Basket this week. He had a great time digging out the goodies from the box.

The treats in the eggs were so yummy!

He did a great job of sharing with his dad.

Goodbye, Big Boy Bed and Good Riddance

2 days before our trip to Chicago, Grant learned how to escape his crib. The next day he learned how to escape the Pack N Play. We got him a big boy bed, thinking that was the only safe option for him. After a couple of nights of getting up at all hours, banging on the door, Auntie Swahley suggested the crib tent. Grant LOVES it and we love not being awakened at 3:00am to frantinc door banging. All is well again. We'll try again when he's more ready.

A Bug's Life

Here is a set of toys that never entered my house as a kid...a bug collection set. Toys for boys are very different from toys for girls.

Grant knew exactly what to do with the magnifying glass. Grandma showed him how to use one at her house. He examined all the bugs then went around the living room, examining everything else.



It didn't take long for Nate to start putting the bugs on Grant.

It was hard to see the ones on his head.



We went outside to use the bug vacuum. We caught a silverfish and got to examine it closely. Grant kept shaking him, so he seemed kind of dizzy and just sat there.

I like this one because you can really see Grant's eyes. His eyes are such a dark brown, you can't normally see the pupils.
