I Could've Sworn There Were Two Just a Minute Ago...

I had given Grant some peach puffs and was working on something else. When I turned around to check on him, I noticed that one didn't quite make it into his mouth. He just kept going, as if there wasn't a giant peach puff stuck smack in the middle of his forehead.

The Four Stages of Self-Feeding

Up until now, Grant would not put food in his own mouth. Anything else is fair game, but food? No thanks. Only if Mom feeds it to me. Today we finally had a breakthrough. It came in 4 simple steps:
Boy vs. Cheerio

Contemplation

Trial

Success!!

What?? We Have Stairs??

Grant LOVES Emma. One of his favorite things to do is chase her around the house. She's a really good sport about the whole thing and lets him get really close before she dashes out of arm's reach for safety. Today she led Grant down the hall and over to the stairs. He was pretty excited to find the steps.

Lazy Days of Summer

Today Elizabeth came over with Carter and Katy to go swimming.

Grant has decided that he finally likes the pool. He floats around in his little boat and loves to splash himself in the face.

Carter took swimming lessons this summer and has become a really good swimmer.

The New Mailman in Town

He wasn't so sure about his new toy at first, but finally got the hang of it.

Kegan's Birthday Party

Kegan turned 4 on Saturday so she had a Barbie birthday party. All the girls got to make jeweled neclaces and bracelets.

Grant finaly got to meet his Uncle Ed.

Everyone got a turn with the Barbie pinata. It was one of those new pinatas where you pull the ribbon at the bottom instead of taking a whack at it. Apparently it's more girly to pull a ribbon.

One of the games entailed the girls getting blindfolded and trying to get the lipstick on Barbie's lips...a new version of pin the tail on the donkey.

Kegan got to put the candles on her cake...

...she was very creative in her choice of placement.

Kegan got lots of new clothes for her Barbies.

Timmy wanted a front row seat to check out Kegan's new toys.

Timmy kept asking to hold Grant, but Grant wasn't going for it. This is the closest we could get.

Me and the boys...

A Day at Home

With my car in the shop, we get to spend the day at home.

Since Grant figured out how to pull up, he's constantly finding new things to do. His exersaucer, aka "the devil seat," suddenly has a new alure.

He still loves his Baby Einstein DVDs. Today he was fascinated by Baby Galileo.

A day with the cousins

Grant and I headed to Torrance to spend the day with Jill, Jared, Kegan, and Timmy. We missed Timmy's birthday party so we brought his gifts. When we arrived, he had a blanket tied around his neck as a cape--he was Darth Vadar.

Apparently even Darth Vadar wears safety goggles.

Everyone wanted a turn holding Grant. My favorite line of the day was Timmy saying, "Grant loves me!"

Timmy found some toys to share with Grant
then showed him how they worked.

Kegan shared one of her new bubble necklaces

with her cousin.

Kegan always takes such good care of Grant.

She fed him his lunch and later his bottle.

Too Tired to Eat

After a long day of play, dinner was just too much work.

First Finger Foods

We tried finger foods for the first time. Grant wasn't a fan. He didn't know what to do with the little things. When I put one in his mouth he made a bad face and promptly spit it out. I guess we'll try again tomorrow.

Sharing a book

Grant's a perfect fit in the kitchen sink. Gotta love those rolls...

Disneyland

Timmy giving Grandma lots of love. Kegan was so excited to go on Star Tours for the first time. We tried to get her on last year, but she was about a hair too short.

Grant and Papa in line for the Haunted Mansion. It was a little scarier than we had thought. When the lights went out and the skeleton laughed in the elevator, Grant let out a piercing scream and was quite frightened. Timmy was shaking throughout the ride. Oops...

Getting a little lunch in New Orleans Square

Grandma and the little ones--that stroller weighed a ton.

On the Jungle Cruise...always a favorite of Jared and Kegan.

Grant was getting tired. He snuggled for the whole ride.

It's been a long day...
