These spongy letters were supposed to be part of the art supplies I bought, but my mom suggested letting Grant play with them in the tub. They were a big hit. Two of his favorite things combined--letters and the bathtub.
He liked to set them up on the edge of the tub. Here he's sounding out the "R."
This is what happens every time I open the fridge...Grant climbs in. Most of the time he sits down just inside the door and makes a "sssssss" sound (a sizzling sound like it's hot).
I asked Grant to get his shoes and these are the ones he chose. Just like his mom...flip flops all the way. I tried to tell him that it's better WITHOUT the white socks, but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal.
Today was another perfect day to stay inside. I had a lot of work to do, so I threw a blanket over the dining room table to make a "fort."
Grant saved the fort from the fire-breathing dragon.
After he was done in the fort, he played with some more random things i found in the kitchen. He really didn't know what that jar opener was supposed to do, but it was pretty interesting.
What a good boy! He sat at the table for close to an hour, playing and looking through his books while I worked hard in the kitchen.
Watching The Amazing Race Together Joy: Grant, when you get bigger do you want to go on the Amazing Race with Mom? Grant:(shaking his head violently) No, no
I guess I'll have to find another partner.
Playing Outside Grant was playing with a couple of saucer sleds at his aunt's house. He lined them up and called them "Mama" and "Dada." We asked, "Where's the baby?" He looked around for a second then said, "Work." I always tell him his dad and grandpa are at work when he asks, so I guess he figures that anyone who's not there is at work.
Prayer 8/25/09
While we were giving thanks for our breakfast and lunch today, when we got to the part of helping Grant obey he burst out with "Yes!" both times. Is that like a toddler "Amen"?
Gymboree 8/25/09
As I was getting Grant ready this morning for Gymboree, I told him he was going to slide, climb, and play. He wasn't very excited. Then all of a sudden he asked, "Girls?" Apparently, climbing and sliding don't hold a candle to girls. Isn't it a little early to be excited about seeing girls??
Bible Story 10/11/09
We read the story about the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem before bed. I pointed to the picture of Jesus in the manger and asked who it was. Grant answered, "Bible Story Baby." We'll have to work on that.
Eating "Cow" 11/28/09
Grant ate some pastrami tonight for dinner and wanted to know if it was chicken. I told him, "No, it's cow." He looked at the piece in his hand and said, "Mooooo...bye, bye cow!" then stuck it in his mouth. Later he asked for "more cow, please." I think I should've just said "beef..."
Prayer 12/11/09
Grant LOVES to pray. I think we're the only parents who tell their kid he has to take 3 bites before we can pray again. Otherwise, he would have us pray after every bite. He's now decided that HE wants to be the one to pray. He folds his hands, squeezes he eyes tightly shut, and whispers "Pray, pray, pray...AMEN!"
